Eriksholm Research Center
Eriksholm Research Center

Eriksholm Research Centre is located 50 km away from William Demant's headquarter, in a former country house. The location away from HQ facilitates the mindset and working habits necessary for good long-term and in-depth research, and at the same time we have constant traffic of people and ideas between Eriksholm and HQ.

Eriksholm's primary role is to make discoveries with the potential to significantly enhance end-user benefits in future hearing-aids. The goals of Erikshom's work are audiological, but signal processing, acoustics and behavioral sciences play important roles, both as vehicles for audiological advances and as tools for research.

Cooperation with academic research groups is crucial, and the vast majority of Eriksholm's research is published and presented at academic conferences, reflecting the fact that it is more concerned with understanding and discovery than with direct product development. Nevertheless, knowledge created at Eriksholm feeds strongly into the innovations made in product development teams at HQ.

Nearly half of Eriksholm's research staff has a PhD, and there is a strong culture of scientific enquiry, unafraid to ask difficult questions. The atmosphere is one of individual learning and challenge within team discovery. Research staff disciplines include audiology, psychoacoustics, experimental psychology, acoustics, signal processing, and anthropology. Alongside the permanent staff there are always several students pursuing MSc or PhD studies.
