Founded in 1904
by the Demant family

Demant was founded 120 years ago. The name originates from our founder, Hans Demant, who bought one of the world’s first hearing aids for his wife, Camilla, who suffered from hearing loss.

This act established the company and laid the foundation for our purpose of creating life-changing hearing health for people living with hearing loss.

More than 22,000 employees globally

As a growing company, we constantly welcome new employees all over the world. Today, we have 22,000 employees in subsidiaries and hearing clinics across more than 30 countries, and our products are sold in more than 130 countries.

We are headquartered in Smørum on the outskirts of Copenhagen and we employ a large number of people with different nationalities, professional backgrounds and lines of work.

Improving lives

We want to help people with hearing loss, who are often limited in their social interactions.

In 2024, Demant improved the lives of 11 million people, who all benefitted from using hearing aids, some of which were made by Oticon.

We want to help even more people. That is why we invest around DKK 1.4 billion annually in research and development, ensuring we keep pushing the boundaries of innovation.

We are listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, and our majority owner is the William Demant Foundation. The foundation has donated more than DKK 1 billion over the past 10 years and in 2023 donated DKK 135,1 million for research, education and cultural purposes.
