Respect for the planet

We take a proactive approach to lowering our environmental footprint, and we are committed to delivering on our climate targets.

In 2021, we joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), who approved our targets in 2023. 

As a group in constant growth, decoupling our greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impact from that growth is key to meeting our targets. We take action to reduce our climate-related impact and risks and work towards climate change mitigation across our value chain.

    We avoided the use of 93 tonnes of virgin fossil-sourced plastic due to the use of at least 50% recycled plastic in various hearing aid accesories

    Our largest Diagnostics’ supplier of plastic integrated up to 10% plastic waste into our equipment manufacturing process avoiding the use of 2.9 tonnes of virgin fossil-sourced plastic

    We began implementing phase one of our fleet electrification plan. Entities in six European countries defined their individual fleet electrification roadmaps and started implementing them accordingly

    With a share of 53% renewable electricity, we reached our goal of having 50% renewable electricity in 2025

Transition plan

Demant’s transition plan is a dynamic framework that consolidates the climate change initiatives set by the Group to reduce the GHG emissions and reach our climate targets. 

The plan currently focuses on Demant’s near-term climate targets for 2030. Demant’s climate targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)
as science-based and aligned with limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century.

As part of our corporate climate accounting, and aligned with the SBTi, we established a Baseline recalculation policy, to define the situations in which our baseline emissions are required to be updated to account for significant change

Closing the circle

We know that it is critical to transition towards a more circular economy to minimise our environmental impact, our resource consumption, our waste generation and to maximise resource efficiency.

Testing, Sharing, Caring
We have developed a special test hearing aid that can be used by multiple individuals over a trial period. After each trial, it is returned to us, thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the next user.

Prolonging lifespan
We perform numerous repairs to ensure our users’ hearing aids stay in great condition and extend their lifespan. Maintenance and repair services are available for all hearing aid models and brands for up to five years after they are discontinued. For our diagnostic devices, we offer maintenance services to our customers to ensure that normal wear and tear does not affect their usability or quality. We also provide worldwide repair service if required.
