We believe that all large-scale companies can and should do their part to combat climate changes, the loss of biodiversity and other challenges facing our planet.

Therefore, we are committed to reducing our climate impact, and we support the Paris Agreement.

Caring for people’s health and well-being goes hand in hand with caring for the environment. We contribute to creating a sustainable, vibrant and responsible society for generations to come. But we can only do it if we leave as small an environmental footprint as possible and reach net zero emissions. We are getting better all the time and report on our work to reduce our climate impact in our Sustainability Report 2022

Demant has joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), committing us to set targets in line with what climate science deems necessary to limit global warming to 1.5°C. We have set a target to reduce scope 1 and 2 emissions from our own operations with 50% by 2030 (expected similar reductions in scope 3), eventually reaching net zero in 2050. We know that our entire value chain accounts for ~95% of Demant’s footprint and working closely with our suppliers will be key to reaching our targets.

The road to net zero starts with our own emissions and to ensure we reach our targets we must transition to renewable energy in our own operations. As part of this, we have established a roadmap to 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

Responsible production is central to our application of a circular mindset. As part of our efforts, we also work to limit waste and find new ways of reusing and creating value from the waste we create.

Driven by a wish to become more sustainable and be certified based on our activities, we work towards becoming better at managing the – sometimes rather complicated – environmental aspects and impacts of our production.
